Present were Mayor Kahlil Seren, Tony Cuda (council president), Craig Cobb, Gail Larson, Anthony Mattox, Jr., Jim Petras, and Jim Posch. Davida Russell was excused. Also present were Clerk of Council Addie Balester and Law Director William Hanna. The meeting ran for 10 minutes.

Council actions

Council approved the below three pieces of legislation on first reading and as emergency measures.

Council adjusted the pay scales and modified job titles for seasonal lifeguards and other swimming pool and Cain Park staff in the parks and recreation department. Mr. Posch abstained as a family member holds one of the affected positions.

Council authorized two agreements to purchase used cars for the planning and development department. The first agreement is with Ron Marhofer Chevrolet, Inc. for four 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EVs at a cost not to exceed $93,900 plus applicable fees. The second agreement is with Lavery Automotive Sales & Service, LLC for two 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EVs at a cost not to exceed $41,700 plus applicable fees.

Committee of the whole

Rhonda Davis Lovejoy, chair, and other members of the Racial Justice Task Force presented an overview of the Task Force’s 2023 recommendations. Council members discussed options for prioritizing implementation of some of the key recommendations.
