ChamberFest Cleveland: Mood Swings
7:30 PM
A recently discovered work by a teenaged Mozart may be “ganz kleine” (“very little”) but is in no way insubstantial—this charming miniature is brimming with signature grace and playfulness. Trailing clouds of Brahms (who was at the height of his influence at the time), Strauss’s Piano Quartet “exudes the confidence of a young giant, reveling in his technical expertise and creative vigor.” The second half of this program brings Errollyn Wallen to center stage for a vibrant journey through her eclectic career blending classical, jazz, and contemporary influences. Wallen’s works, rich in emotion and storytelling, combine pioneering artistry and boundary-defying musicianship.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Ganz kleine Nachtmusik
Richard Strauss
Piano Quartet in C minor
Errollyn Wallen
Selections from The Errollyn Wallen Songbook
Location:
Mixon Hall, Cleveland Institute of Music
11021 East Boulevard
Cleveland, OH 44106
