Cool and funky, Aaron Jay Kernis’s compilation is a witty reminder that we are constantly surrounded by music that constantly surrounds us—at the mall, in the car, in an elevator—skillfully crafted. While still a teenager, Enescu labored for a year and a half over this vast work of giant proportions and grand designs, creating one of the most astonishing masterworks in all of chamber music.
