If you are interested in gardening, community, food security, permaculture, saving and sharing seeds, you should come to our 13th annual Seed Swap!

We will have starter seeds available and lots of information to share. We have signed the Safe Seed Pledge and will not knowingly share GMO/Monsanto owned seed.
Please label saved seed with as much pertinent info as possible. We will have envelopes and labels available.
Seed Savers who are willing, will be with their seeds at tables, to discuss traits, growing conditions, stories about them, and aspects of seed saving.
Donated seed will be available and asked to be considered a “loan” to be returned, if possible, at the following swap.
Refreshments are potluck. Please bring a dish to share
(and indicate if it is vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or contains meat)

Doan Brook Watershed Partnership Winter Tree ID Hike
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Looking to enhance your knowledge of local trees? Many people can identify common trees by their distinctive leaves — oak, maple, and elm — but identifying these and other trees is possible even after the leaves have fallen. Join Dr. Ted Auch and Doan Brook Watershed Partnership for an educational walk around Lower Shaker Lake focused on winter-weather identification techniques for common native and naturalized trees and shrubs. Additionally, you will learn why different species of trees grow where they do and how trees relate to storm water and pollution control.

We will meet at the western end of Lower Shaker Lake on the bridge over the spillway. Street parking is available on Brook Road (enter off of South Park or North Park Blvd.). Be sure to dress for the weather! A hike fee of $10 per person will be collected on the day of the event. Cash or check. Advanced registration is preferred. For questions or additional information contact Elizabeth at 216-325-7781 or smith@doanbrookpartnership.org

René Izquierdo in Concert
7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Cuban-born René Izquierdo is a unique artist and passionate educator whose career has been dedicated to inspiring individuals and connecting communities. “My purpose as an artist is to offer a musical experience that will inspire and help us understand what it is we yearn for, so that the music will reveal the inner feelings where words cannot. Since the first time I experienced this reaction at my first live concert as a child, I discovered my own yearning and wanted to be able to make people connect in the same way. This is my life’s work.”

With over seventy engagements per year, whether as a solo performer, chamber musician, or as a guest soloist with orchestras, René Izquierdo has performed to critical acclaim touring extensively throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He is frequently invited by renowned festivals and institutions, having played at stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Manaus Opera House in Brazil, and National Recital Hall in Taiwan.
