- Clyde's has the potential to be a great neighborhood bar... and living down the street from them, we really want them to succeed. The decor is remarkable. They've done an incredible job making over the old diner. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; Clyde greeted us at the door. We chose a table in the bar area and it was a jovial start to our meal as we vicariously experienced the video gaming taking place at the bar with bar patrons and Clyde.
Unfortunately, we had a disappointing meal and poor service. The waitress lacked basic common sense, not to mention restaurant sense. My date put his empty beer bottle at the edge of the table signaling that he needed a refill. The waitress must have passed our table a dozen times without offering him another; even when she brought us our food, she ignored the bottle! Mike finally had to wave her down and ask for another beer! There were a series of similar service mis-steps throughout the meal.
Our experience with the food wasn't any better. Our fist appetizer was the chicken wings. They were the biggest wings I've been served in a long time, but were clearly over-cooked, being dark brown almost burnt on the outside. Inside, the meat was dry and tasteless. We then ordered the artichoke dip. It was barely room temp! We had to send it back. It was microwaved, but there was no attempt to brown off the top and get that golden effect that makes an artichoke dip so appetizing. We split an order of fish and chips, and we were pleasantly surprised when it came out plated separately. The portion was generous, but again, the fries were not very hot and cooks had emptied the bag! Our fries were the broken crumbs -- the dregs of the bag, reasonably tasty, but not appropriate to actually server paying customers.
When Clyde's grand-daughter checked-in on us, we shared out experience with her. She was genuinely concerned and got her granddad. Unfortunately Clyde blew us off, making an excuse that they had been slammed.
What a pity, because that blow off doesn't make us inclined to give them another try.

- Great place to get a basic deli lunch. I was disappointed this time around. I think they may have changed their corned beef supplier, but it was still a good meal and a reasonable price.

- I have lived in CH for 20 years and never set foot in the Tavern Co. Well, all that will change after tonight. Pros: Nice friendly service, absolutely no complaints about our food: fresh, clean flavors, nicely presented on lovely white dishes. GREAT music (who's in charge? Beatles, Stones, Band,Freddie Mercury-- keep it coming) not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Nice crowd of people having a good time. Minor cons: too many water spots on the flatware, our table was wobbly and although the waiter tried to fix it...Overall, a great addition to the Cedar Lee dining scene.

- I've not been in for lunch, but Irv's is a great little place for breakfast. It's a tiny little place with just a long counter. The food's every bit as good as Big Al's on Larchmere,or Jack's Deli but incredibly affordable. It's also within walking distance from homes in Cleveland Heights/University Heights' Cedar corridor.
