UH Senior Happenings

Senior Happenings, sponsored by the city of University Heights, are open to all senior citizens. Events take place on Thursdays at 2 p.m. at the University Heights Library. To receive the monthly schedule by e-mail, call 216-932-7800, ext. 205, or send an e-mail to info@universityheights.com.

Sept. 6: Deidre McPherson, one of several team leaders who organize public programs at the Cleveland Museum of Art, will discuss her work staging CMA's Mix parties, endowed lectures, International Cleveland Community Day, Martin Luther King celebration, and exhibit-specific programs.

Sept. 13: Amber Donovan, a social worker with Cuyahoga County and director of the Open Table Initiative, in partnership with MetroHealth System, will describe her work with the nonprofit Community of Hope, helping needy families navigate from poverty toward prosperity.

Sept. 20: Richard Moore, owner of Cleveland's Bonfoey Gallery, will describe its history at 1710 Euclid Ave., as the gallery celebrates its 125th anniversary. Bonfoey is known for hand-carved frames, custom gilding and art restoration, as well as exhibiting the work of contemporary artists.

Sept. 27: Kim de Groh, senior materials research engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center Laboratory, will talk about preparing experiments for space, and testing how certain materials erode and discolor there, to check the consistency of various materials.
