CH poet laureate applications are due Dec. 31
Heights Arts, in collaboration with the city of Cleveland Heights, is accepting applications from creative writers for the office of Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate.
The city’s ninth poet laureate will serve a 24-month period, beginning April 2018, and concluding at the end of March 2020.
The city and Heights Arts selected the city’s first poet laureate in 2005, making Cleveland Heights the first city in Ohio to appoint anyone to the position. The intention was to create programs to infuse poetry into community life. Resulting programs have included the lively Haiku Death Match, a Twitter poetry project (PoetTweet), community workshops, and Heights Arts’ ongoing Ekphrastacy program—a series of artist talks and poetry readings held in conjunction with special exhibitions.
Applicants must be residents of Cleveland Heights, or have a significant relationship to the Cleveland Heights community, and commit to serve the full 24-month term of service, if selected. The application deadline is Dec. 31. Learn more here: PL Selection Process and Guidelines.
