Coventry Village embraces the holiday spirit with two December events for families

The Coventry Village Special Improvement District (SID) invites everyone to get in the holiday spirit and visit Coventry Village for two fun, free, family-friendly events planned for December.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, noon to 11 p.m., the popular Coventry Village Holiday Festival returns.

This year, Coventry Village will reward visitors for shopping local by offering $10 in Coventry Cash for every $50 shoppers spend on a single receipt at a participating merchant location. The Coventry Cash shoppers earn during the Holiday Festival can be spent in January at participating district businesses.

As always, attendees can enjoy free festivities throughout the day, including photos with Santa and Coventry Claus, holiday family portraits, special screenings of the movies "Home Alone" and "Gremlins" in the Centrum Theatre, live music and kiddie holiday karaoke, community caroling, poets roaming the neighborhood, winter storytime and kids crafts.

Those 21 and older are invited to participate in the ugly holiday sweater bar crawl, led by Coventry Claus.

During the Dec. 10 festival, the City of Cleveland Heights is giving attendees the gift of free parking at all Coventry Village parking garage, parking lot, and street meters.

Later in the month, on Sunday, Dec. 18, Coventry Village SID, along with In The 216 and Artful, will host the Coventry Village Jingle Bell Shop. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Grog Shop (upstairs) and B Side Lounge (downstairs) will be filled with local artisans and Coventry merchants offering unique gifts for everyone on your list, along with food, drinks and music.

"Last year’s event was really a lot of fun and a huge hit,” said Kathy Blackman of the Grog Shop and B Side. “It's a relaxed environment where you can sip while you shop, and find one-of-a-kind presents. It's where I did the majority of my holiday shopping. I found gifts for friends and family that I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else."
