CH Senior Center News

The Cleveland Heights Senior Activity Center (SAC), located in the CH Community Center at 1 Monticello Blvd., offers a wide variety of programming for Cleveland Heights residents 60 and older.

Every Monday (12:15–2 p.m.) and Friday (10 a.m. to noon) a group gathers at the senior center to play a friendly game of table tennis. Beginners are always welcome. SAC has extra paddles available; players should wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.

Estimates are that more than 20 million people play table tennis recreationally in the U.S., and it is the most popular racket sport in the world. It is a sport that can be enjoyed by individuals of any age and physical ability, and is great exercise, teaching hand-eye coordination, challenging balance and stimulating rapid response. Table tennis is a low-injury-risk sport that keeps one fit and flexible, without putting severe stress on joints. This is a free and fun activity, so why not give table tennis a try?

The Senior Activity Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. A complete schedule of programs is published in the community center’s newsletter, which is available at Cleveland Heights City Hall, local libraries, the community center and online at www.clevelandheights.com. For more information and to register for any program, call 216-691-7377.
