Communion of Saints School to host Jan. 31 community open house
Communion of Saints School, a ministry of Communion of Saints Parish, will host a community open house on Jan. 31, from noon to 2 p.m. The school is located at 2160 Stillman Road, in Cleveland Heights.
Communion of Saints School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence that educates children in grades K–8, creates a learning environment where each student’s success is encouraged both in and out of the classroom. By providing an excellent faith-based education, the school’s goal is to enrich the lives of all students by challenging them to excel in school and to value and respect their community and family.
“We strive to teach the importance of service and giving back to the community at an early age,” said Chrystal Manos, principal. “For example, the parish actively supports The Father Michael Wittman Ozanam Center, and students at all grade levels are encouraged to participate in the parish-sponsored drives. Whether it’s food items, clothing or diapers, the kids see firsthand that they are helping somebody in need.”
The Ozanam Center, a ministry of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of the Diocese of Cleveland, is a food pantry and clothing bank helping individuals and families in seven surrounding zip codes.
By implementing the highest standards of education, coupled with faith, tradition and service, Communion of Saints School prepares its students for secondary education and encourages each student to accomplish his or her personal goals.
The thriving Communion of Saints parish is home to St. Ann Church, a historical Cleveland Heights landmark, as well as Communion of Saints School. St. Ann School, the original academic institution, was established in 1916 and has educated thousands of students through the years. In 2010, the merger of several area Catholic parishes formed Communion of Saints Parish, which is deeply rooted in history and tradition.
