Second public meeting on CHHS facilities project set for Aug. 19

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the Cleveland Heights–University Heights City School District will hold the second of three planned public meetings regarding the schematic design phase of its Heights High facilities project. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., and take place at the Delisle Center, 14780 Superior Road. The third meeting is scheduled for Sept. 16, and will take place at the same time and location.

This series of public meetings is intended to provide an opportunity for members of the Heights community to see proposed plans and ask questions. Those who would like to address the board, and share comments, questions or concerns, should sign up to do so at the beginning of the meeting.

At the Aug. 19 meeting, the design team from Balog, Steines, Hendricks & Manchester will review the site and floor plans it presented at the first (July 15) public meeting, and will also present its concept for the exterior design of the renovated high school. Following the presentation and board discussion, the community will be able to ask questions.

Plans for the Sept. 16 meeting anticipate that the final schematic design package will be presented, and the construction team, from the firm Gilbane/Ozanne, will present a cost estimate for the design’s construction.

For more information about the district’s Aug. 19 and Sept. 16 meetings, and to see floor and site plans that have been proposed by the design team, visit www.chuh.org.

The next meeting of the district's Facilities Accountability Committee (FAC) will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Board of Education building, 2155 Miramar Blvd. All FAC meetings are open to the public, and public comment is permitted. [Note: those wishing to comment at FAC meetings are not required to sign up at the start of the meeting. The FAC includes public comments and questions on its agenda for each meeting.] The Aug. 21 meeting agenda is posted at www.createthefutureheightsschools.org.

[Editor's note: This article has been updated to clarify the district's public comment protocol for its schematic design phase public meetings and its FAC meetings.]
