Feb. 6 is rescheduled date for CH-UH Phase 1 School Facilities Community Kick-off Meeting

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District has rescheduled its Phase 1 School Facilities Community Kick-off meeting, originally planned for Jan. 28, for Thursday, Feb. 6, 6–8:30 p.m. (The meeting date changed due to the bitterly cold weather, which resulted in district school closures on Jan. 28.)

The community is invited to this gathering, which will take place in the Cleveland Heights High School Social Room, 13263 Cedar Road, to learn about the CH-UH school district’s facilities planning and design process.

"This is a great opportunity for community members to share their hopes and concerns as we begin to redefine the buildings in which our students learn," stated Superintendent Nylajean R. McDaniel.

The meeting will provide a chance to express community priorities. Community working groups will be formed, and projects assigned, at this meeting.

Presenters will include:

  • Amy Yurko, Founder of Brain Spaces, a Chicago firm that specializes in the link between learning and physical environment, and
  • Gary Balog, Senior Project Manager of BSHM Architects, the Northeast Ohio architectural design firm for the school facilities plan.

All District community members, staff members, parents and students are invited. Light refreshments will be served, Family Connections will provide child care, and there will be some “junior-architect” activities as well.
