University Heights notifies residents of discolored water

The City of University Heights issued a notice today that the Cleveland Water Department (CWD) had notified the city of a higher-than-normal level of manganese in the water serviced through the Nottingham Treatment Plant, which has caused a discoloration of the water delivered to eastside communities, including University Heights. The CWD asks residents to refrain from washing clothing, particularly light-colored items, because the discoloration can stain fabric.

CWD stated that the water is safe to drink. There is no boil alert.

CWD crews are flushing the system and anticipate that the water discoloration will clear in a few days. For more information, call the CWD hotline at 216-664-3060.
