Troops appreciate salamis from Cleveland Heights

To the Editor:

I received the following letter via e-mail on Jan. 24 from a recent Salami to the Troops recipient:

Greetings from Kabul, Afghanistan.A few days ago I received a box of beef salami from your shop as part of your program to support the troops. Food items like this are a rarity around here and are truly appreciated by everyone who will have a slice...or two or three. You have helped to put some smiles on faces here at Headquarters ISAF in the midst of some very long work days.

On behalf of everyone here, thank you for your kindness and generosity. We are proud to serve you and represent a nation of kind and thoughtful people.

Very respectfully,

Brian BaduraLieutenant Commander,
U.S. Navy
NATO/OF-3 Media Operations Officer Headquarters Public Affairs
DCOS Communication NATO International Security Assistance Force-Afghanistan

I think that Lt Badura’s words convey to all of us the mettle of the people that serve this country. Thanks to the many among you that have purchased beef salamis for us to send. I hope this note makes you feel as good about this enterprise as it did those of us at Mister Brisket. And a reminder—if you’re still interested in purchasing a salami--or know others who might be--we are planning to ship as many as possible to the roughly 250 men and women serving aboard the USS Donald Cook in the Gulf of Aden.

There’s still time to participate. The cost is $20 per salami, which includes shipping and Cleveland Stadium mustard plus a note that will include your name. You can call us or follow this link: http://www.misterbrisket.com/other-services/send-salamis-to-the-troops/.
