Thanks from RTA

From April 30 to May 5, The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority hosted the International Bus and Paratransit Conference, where more than 1,000 attendees from throughout North America pumped more than $2 million into Cleveland’s economy. To borrow a baseball term, Cleveland hit a home run.

Between our many conference events, the Indians' home stand and NBA playoffs, you could feel the energy that would have made any major U.S. city envious.

Blocks of rooms at downtown hotels were sold out, as was the trade show at Public Auditorium.  Throughout the week, attendees commented that our downtown is clean, safe and a happening place.

Not only did many RTA employees take advantage of important training programs, but RTA also walked away with the gold, when the agency received the Outstanding Safety Program Award among North America’s largest transit systems.

Board President George Dixon and I thank everyone who made this very special experience possible.

Joe Calabrese is CEO and General Manager of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
