The Hollywood Video store at Cedar and Taylor is closing. It is currently
in the midst of a bargain sale of all of its DVDs, etc., in addition to its
equipment. This doesn't speak to the CH-UH economy specifically -
it's part of a nationwide trend.

True, but it is the anchor tenant of the strip at Cedar and Taylor. It leaves yet another large vacancy in the city.

The good news is that Melt will be opening soon and I've been wondering where folks will park.

I was in that neighborhood yesterday and asked the workmen when they'd be finished--and they said one month.
I hear this is a very popular restaurant ---this is sure to perk up a funky commercial corner...

Melt is a terrific west side eatery. Check you colestoral counter at the door, but it's very good. This will be great addition to the Cedar-Taylor District.

I wonder what UH has planned now that Hollywood Video is leaving. That's a lot of real estate - it won't be good to leave it vacant.

It's not up to UH, it's up to the owner, who has every motivation in the world to replace the lost rent income. It's doubtful a new tenant will come forth until the economy improves.
