The Case of Moore v Harper: A Discussion on Independent Legislature Theory with Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
What was once a fringe theory is now at the heart of a case to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. How much power should a state have when running a federal election? The Brennan Center for Justice’s Court Case Tracker explains the case this way: “Relying on the radical and meritless ‘independent state legislature’ theory, North Carolina legislators are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate gerrymandered congressional maps that the state supreme court struck down for violating the state constitution.” Join the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association in a discussion on what this case means, not only to North Carolina voters but also to all states across our great nation.

An optional docent-led tour of the special exhibition This Light of Ours: Activist Photographers of the Civil Rights Movement will be available from 6pm to 7pm, for those wishing to register at no extra charge. Please note your interest at registration.
