Heights Chamber Orchestra Concert

Yoon Jae Lee, guest conductor

Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection”
An arrangement for chamber orchestra by Yoon Jae Lee

Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, also known as the “Resurrection” symphony, was composed during the Austrian composer’s summer holidays in Alpine and lakeside retreats. It was the second of only nine completed symphonies that he wrote during a parallel career as a conductor that took him from central Europe to New York.

This symphony was one of Mahler's most popular and successful works during his lifetime. It was his first major work that established his lifelong view of the beauty of afterlife and resurrection.
