Bringing Nature Home: Right Plant, Right Place
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Right Plant, Right Place
Presented by Nick Mikash, Natural Resources Specialist at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

We all have that spot where nothing seems happy. Our yards have wet, part wet, dry, part dry, shady, part shady, sunny, part sunny, clayey, acidic, or all-of-the-above spots. How do we know what native plants to plant where? Learn what native plants offered by the 38th annual NCSL plant sale will find a suitable habitat in your yard.

2:15 pm Pollinator Path challenge
Presented by Friends of Lower Lake co-chair Peggy Spaeth

Neighbors on Bradford Road in Cleveland Heights have started a tree lawn pollinator path. Hear the simple steps they took to provide bees, butterflies, and other insects with a rich diet of pollen and nectar all the way down the street.

This talk is part of a series of talks hosted by Friends of Lower Lake and Doan Brook Watershed Partnership that are focused on native plants and sustainable gardening leading up to and in celebration of Ohio’s first ever Native Plant Month in April
