A Most Excellent Race
7:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Run, walk, or donate to help raise funds for children and adults with disabilities so that they can enjoy Camp Cheerful in Strongsville. The camp, started in 1947 by three Rotarians, was Ohio's first fully accessible camp. Today, hundreds of children and adults with special needs throughout the Cleveland area "take a vacation from their disability" each year. They experience all that camp offers, including swimming, fishing, sports, arts and crafts, horsemanship activities, and singing around the campfire with s'mores - all in a safe, nurturing environment. The Race is generously Presented by Wells Fargo and sponsored by Cover My Meds; Corcoran Tile & Marble, Inc.; The Albert M. Higley Company; KeyBank; The Oatey Foundation; and Wild Republic.

At 'A Most Excellent Race,' campers from Camp Cheerful will kick off the event at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights at 8:30 a.m. with their own "Camp Cheerful Classic" - a spirited short-distance race. At 9 a.m., runners and walkers will start one of four races: a 10K run on a flat, fast, single-loop course through Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights; or a 5K run, 5K walk or 1-mile walk through a historic Cleveland Heights neighborhood. The event will include awards for top race finishers, family fun activities, and refreshments. 'A Most Excellent Race' is a part of the Hermes Road Race Series 2019
