Close Encounters: Rhythms, Rhymes, and the Kitchen Sink
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
"Rhythms, Rhymes, and the Kitchen Sink" brings a unique afternoon of music and original verse to the stage of the Bop Stop at The Music Settlement on Sunday, January 21. It's a little-known fact that The Cleveland Orchestra’s Principal English Horn player, Robert Walters, is also a published poet. He joins bassoonist Drew Pattison and composer/pianist Teddy Niedermaier to perform a new trio composed by Niedermaier in 2016, two rarely-heard romances by Elgar and Sibelius, plus Claude Debussy’s thrilling "Rhapsodie."

Close Encounters Season 12 subscriptions and individual concert tickets are currently available at Heights Arts, via phone 216-371-3457, and online at www.heightsarts.org/concerts. Discounted tickets are available for students age 8-23, as well parents of students, age 8-18.

Grounded: Pay-As-You-Can Performance
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
Dobama Theatre presents the Cleveland produced premiere of GROUNDED by George Brant, directed by Alice Reagan.

An ace fighter pilot’s career in the sky is ended early due to an unexpected pregnancy. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside Las Vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns home to her family each night. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away. GROUNDED is an epic poem that crafts an experience that is timely, human, and vital.
Winner of the Smith Prize for Political Theatre. GROUNDED features Anjanette Hall as the Pilot.

The show runs for 90 minutes with no intermission. Contains adult language and light effects.
