Senior Happenings Program
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Lou Tansky, proprietor, Uncle Ben’s Pawn Shop, on St. Clair Avenue at East 26th Street, started with his father more than 50 years ago, earning a nickel a day,and as a history buff grew to like all the people who venture into his shop, which is stuffed with all sorts of eclectic items, jewelry, musical instruments, art work, even a squirrel monkey which his father traded for a guitar. He philosophizes—pawn is about relationships, so he treats his customers with courtesy and respect.
