"Our Search For Community and the Negro Motorist Green Book": World Cafe Discussion
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Join the Heights Community Congress in this final interactive World Café. From 1937 to 1965, Victor Green published a travel guide for African Americans taking road trips. The Negro Motorist Green Book was an indispensable guide for newly mobile African Americans, helping them navigate unfamiliar and often unsafe geography and terrain as they traveled for business and pleasure.

Put yourself in the shoes of a 1953-era traveler in this interactive program. You’ll use the resources of the Green Book to help you navigate to a destination, in an America where everyone doesn’t have the opportunity to travel freely and safely. Dr. Tameka Taylor, of Compass Consulting, will lead this small group activity and discussion. Come and explore how we all find our way through unfamiliar and dangerous areas, and how we look for common ground and places where we feel safe and comfortable.

Reservations are appreciated, but walk-ins are always welcome! RSVP available at https://hcc-green-book.eventbrite.com .
