HRRC Presentation: "Safe at Home"

Seniors can feel vulnerable in their homes, especially when winter weather isolates you from friends and relatives. We’ll discuss ways to improve home security, ranging from low-cost measures you can implement yourself to the pros and cons of commercial monitoring systems.

Part of Home Repair Resource Center’s workshop series focusing on the needs of seniors. Free and open to residents of all communities. Reservations required; call HRRC’s Senior Repair Specialist Wesley Walker at (216) 381-6100, ext. 22 or email wwalker@hrrc-ch.org. 90-minute in-home repair consultations are also available to residents of Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and South Euclid for a modest fee. (Also available in certain other communities; call for details.)

The College Club of Cleveland invites you and your friends to join us for a traditional Chinese New Year celebration. Bring your friends and enjoy the authentic and colorful Yin Tang Dance Company.

Deadline for paid reservations is noon on Wednesday, Feb 18.

Gentle Yoga *FREE* Loving Hands Yoga

Gentle Yoga – This class provides all the benefits of yoga, but at a more relaxed pace. It is perfect for beginners, or experienced yogis who prefer a slower practice. We work on our strength, breathing, balance, and flexibility through gentle, fluid poses and stretching. Meditation exercises at the beginning and end of the class help to release stress and worry. We also discuss methods for bringing peace and relaxation into our daily lives. This class provides a peaceful and relaxing way to end the evening!

Active Yoga *FREE* Loving Hands Yoga

Active Yoga – This is a moderate-intensity class, perfect for those with previous yoga experience. In this class we gradually increase our heart rate, flow aerobically through various poses, and work on developing strength, flexibility, balance, and stamina. We focus on the yoga principles of alignment, connecting our breath with our movement, and practicing present-moment awareness. The level of challenge is designed around the students’ desires and abilities.

Cleveland Play House Script Club - The Pianist of Willesden Lane (Book Discussion)

CPH and Facing History and Ourselves present this special "Book to Script" Club discussion. We'll be reading Mona Golabek's novel The Children of Willesden Lane, which inspired the stage adaptation (entitled The Pianist of Willesden Lane) in which she stars. With a special focus on the process of adapting the story for the stage, we’ll follow Golabek’s mother Lisa Jura in this true tale of survival, hope, and the power of music. Registration begins January 28.
