Pepper and Turner Bringing Main Street Strategy to Cleveland Heights
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
New Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper and former State Senator and ODP Chair of Political Engagement Nina Turner will detail their “Main Street Initiative” to local Democrats in Cleveland Heights, Tuesday, February 10th at the Community Center.
This new strategic plan of the Ohio Democratic Party will provide direct support to local candidates and staff, including financial investments to targeted races, messaging, voter contact, and fundraising trainings, and access to cutting edge technology and data.
According to Pepper, “this strategy and fund represent our commitment to build this party from the local level, where it all begins.” Turner added, "as Democrats, it’s our responsibility to care about the welfare of ALL Ohioans, and our Main Street Initiative is an opportunity to put our values into action."
The meeting is being hosted by the Cleveland Heights Democrats, Shaker Heights Democratic Club, Cleveland Stonewall Democrats, Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Young Black Democrats and the Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus. More information is available at www.clevelandheightsdems.com.
The meeting is free and open to the public.

Folk Musician Charlie Mosbrook to release new CD “A Time Long Gone”

Cleveland Heights native folk musician Charlie Mosbrook will release his new CD “A Time Long Gone” February 10th 2015 with a free, 8pm show at the Barking Spider Tavern (11310 Juniper Road, Cleveland, OH 44106).

“A Time Long Gone” is the follow up to Mosbrook's last CD “Something to Believe” (2012), which was featured on Folkalley.com, No Depression, and The Midnight Special, a nationally syndicated folk program out of Chicago. Both records are built around strong songwriting and acoustic instrumentation like fiddle, harmonica, mandolin, guitar, and vocals with traditional folk, roots, and Americana arrangements. In addition to original compositions, Mosbrook adds a song written by long time collaborator and influence Avin Loki Baird. Also included is the Traditional “I Bid You Goodnight,” known to his listeners as the closing song at his Open Mic that has enjoyed a 25 year run on Coventry Road (currently hosted at the Phoenix Coffee Shop). Mosbrook also tours throughout the US regularly and has received radio support in Europe, Australia, and in the Middle East. He is an active volunteer with Folk Alliance and currently serves as President of Northeast Ohio's Folknet. Living as a walking quadriplegic for the past 5 years, he volunteers at MetroHealth providing monthly concerts for the patients in the Spinal Cord Injury unit.

The February 10th show comes the day before his birthday and will feature guests performances by some of the other musicians appearing on the new record including: Bill Lestock, Jon Mosey, Becca Rhoades, Rachel Brown, David Krauss, Stephanie Morris, Jim Brentar, Davidione Pearl, Xe La, Cindy Langmack, Laura Joy, Becca Bessinger, Kaitlin Emmert, and Mackenzie Brook Cox.
