Yoga For Lean Bodies – Vinyasa (flowing) yoga is a powerful component of a healthy lifestyle that aids in creating a leaner body. We move very actively through poses in this class, keeping an elevated heart rate to help burn calories. The body awareness and present-moment awareness that we learn in yoga also help us to be more conscious of what we put into our bodies, and helps us to be gentle and accepting of ourselves along our lean body journey. This is an active level class, perfect for those with previous yoga experience or those who are already fairly physically fit.

Hospice Volunteer Education

Hospice Volunteer Education – Saturdays, December 6 and 13, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Hospice of the Western Reserve, St. John’s West Shore Hospital, 29101 Health Campus Dr., Building 2, Suite 400, Westlake, OH 44145. Anyone 13 years of age or older interested in making a difference in the lives of others is welcome to attend this training. Volunteers interested in working with patients attend both sessions, while volunteers in non-patient areas and teen volunteers only attend the first 4 hours on December 6. RSVP required. Contact the Volunteer Team at 800-707-8922 (6881). Classes are offered at other times and days throughout the year. Join us for this workshop focusing on protecting, preserving, and building strong bones. Learn how yoga helps this process with practices and 'power tools' to prevent or reverse osteoporosis. Debunk common myths and learn current information regarding the screening and drug treatment of osteoporosis.
With a strong emphasis on safety and alignment, students will practice poses designed to improve posture and balance, strengthen muscles, and build bone mass. Chairs, props, and a variety of modifications will enhance the strengthening effects of some of the poses while making them safe and accessible to all students, with or without osteoporosis.
$30 through Dec 1; $35 thereafter
