Opening Day - Spots of Light: To Be a Woman in the Holocaust
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The Maltz Museum is proud to announce its first exhibition of 2013 - Spots of Light: To Be a Woman in the Holocaust. A production of the Museums Division, Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, it is the first exhibition to focus exclusively on Jewish women and their experiences in the Holocaust. Through these women’s initiative, creativity and courage, the exhibit demonstrates that human beings are strong enough, even in the most difficult of circumstances, to maintain those values which are the foundation of humanity: motherhood, friendship, faith and love. In this large-scale video installation, images move and change before the visitor’s eyes, giving historical material a new and contemporary feel and perspective. On display through June 9.

Yoga and Meditation *FREE* Loving Hands Yoga
6:15 PM - 7:15 PM
Yoga and Meditation *FREE* Loving Hands Yoga - In this class we focus on the present-moment awareness that comes through a focused yoga practice, and we learn techniques for increasing that focus through meditation. We discuss meditation techniques as we practice our yoga poses, and also learn how to "take our yoga off of our mats" and into the rest of our lives by applying these practices in daily life situations. These techniques help us to stay peaceful, calm, and balanced amid the daily pressures of everyday life. Each class ends with a 10 minute meditation practice. This is a gentle, relaxing class; suitable for beginners as well as experienced yogis.
